Lamborghini Aventador S Looks More Aggressive With 730 Horsepower!

Just when you start to think, this is as good as it gets, it gets better. That is certainly the case with the new and improved supercar from Lamborghini, the Aventador S.

The Aventador has been Lamborghini’s flagship for some time and the S tells us it is the enhanced model. They have given it even more power as well as better handling and a bold appearance. Lamborghini have previously attached the letter S to the stunning Miura S and the impressive Countach S. Well now we have the Aventador S. The S edition still makes use of a 6.5-liter V-12 with cylinder deactivation technology.

With some clever modification to the exhaust system and the valve timing, as well as making the vehicle a whopping 20 percent lighter, they have increased the output to 730 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque. Horsepower on the earlier models was at 691, the torque has not changed. They also increased the maximum revs from 8,350 to 8,500 rpm. Top speed stays the same at 217 mph and 0-62 mph will take the same mere 2.9 seconds.

Also remaining unchanged is the Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) transmission which many had hoped would see some improvement. I guess it just takes a bit of getting used to. They have included the magnetic dampers used in the hardcore Aventador SuperVeloce and have tweaked the four-wheel-steering system as well as the aerodynamics.

The aerodynamic alterations have increased front downforce by an amazing 130 percent over the existing model. Most of the adjustments were made to the nose of the car with a bigger splitter in front as well as the wing and diffuser at the back. This is the first time Lamborghini have used the four-wheel-steering in a production car. The result, as you can imagine is a much more agile experience at low speeds and better stability at high speeds.

Prices for the new Lamborghini Aventador S start at about $420 000. It will be fully unveiled at the Geneva auto show in March next year and will be available from next spring. There is something to look forward to for next year.
