The New Ferrari 812 Superfast Takes To The Skies… I Mean The Road

A long time ago, okay not that long ago but still, sometime ago, the F12 Berlinetta would be considered the ultimate Ferrari grand tourer.

Now, that title goes to the 812 Superfast, which debut earlier this month at 2017 Geneva auto show. We only were able to see the car stationary but the car is nowhere, ready to move and tackle a long and winding stretch of road. The 812 is not really a new car, it’s just an update of the F12 but this isn’t like a phone update, the changes are rather significant.

When they developed the new 812 Superfast the main goal was increasing track performance and ensuring that this car could still be comfortable on long trips. The car was definitely the star of the show, with its new 6.5-litre V-12 which clocks 790 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque.

And let us not forget that this engine is naturally aspirated. Ferrari’s LaFerrari is the only other production car that has a naturally aspirated engine. LaFerrari’s 6.3-litre V-12 matches the 812’s 790-hp output. Now along with this car’s new engine, the 812, benefits from the latest Ferrari vehicle dynamics control systems as well as components this includes the four-wheel steering.

These varied systems work with the tweaked 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It works with it more aggressively aerodynamic. It also has an electric power steering system which is a first for Ferrari. The 812 is still a heavy beast, and don’t you forget it. The car’s curb weight measures in at 3,600 pounds.

The car will hit 62 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds pass 124 miles per hour in 7.9 seconds and finally top out at 211 miles per hour and Ferrari’s confident it will pull it off. Deliveries start later this year. Ferrari was founded on the 13th September 1939 in Modena Italy by Enzo Ferrari. It’s been a reliable brand and as always gone with the times and improved with every car they’ve made we’re confident in Ferrari’s mission to present us with something amazing!
