Keen On A New Koenigsegg? Great Choice, Just Don’t Hold Your Breath

The Koenigsegg is one of the fastest cars you could ever expect to buy, if you can afford the hefty price tag.

But while the car might be one of the fastest on the planet, those with a real need for speed will ironically have to wait a very long time to get their hands on one. While it can get to 150 to 250 km/h in 3.2 seconds or less than 20 seconds for 0 to 400 km/h, that is the only fast thing about it. If you buy one today, expect to wait a good four years for delivery.

While they say that patience is a virtue and all good things come to those who wait, if you are a fan of super-fast hypercars, I am not sure you will appreciate the wait, especially after forking over the GDP of a small county for the privilege of getting on the waiting list. So is it worth waiting for? In a word, yes. Part of the charm is the exclusivity so you will have four years of anticipation and excitement before you can take this amazing machine on the road.

The reason for the delay is that the vehicles are handcrafted in Koenigsegg’s facility in Ängelholm, Sweden in very limited quantities every year. Given the demand for this ultimate speed and style vehicle, production can not come close to keeping up. The current waiting list is around the four to five year mark. Koenigsegg have told reporters that they are working on getting this time down by increasing production from their current rate of between 16 and 20 a year at the moment to around 25 to 30.

This should bring the wait down to a mere 2 and a half years. Still a long time to wait but a whole let better than 4 to 5 years I guess. It is not only Koenigsegg that require customers to wait such extreme delays for delivery on new vehicles. The retro Porsche from Singer are around a 3 year wait at least. It is quite clear that people are prepared to wait for the privilege of being the proud owner of these exclusive vehicles. So, you better get those orders in quickly.
